  Where All Things Begin — The Four Elements

Earth. Air. Fire. Water.

Before there were cities, roads, schedules, and all the noise of modern life, there were the elements—the forces of the natural world that have surrounded us from the beginning.

Where All Things Begin was created around those four ancient elements, with each one interpreted through silver, stone, texture, and form.

At the base of the pendant, the beautiful blue-green stone represents Water—the element of movement, intuition, and life itself. Rising above it are hand-created silver mountains representing Earth, solid and grounding.

Cutting dramatically through the center is Fire, interpreted as a lightning-like strike descending through the landscape. Around it, patterned silver reaches upward and outward, representing Air—movement, breath, and the invisible force that surrounds us.

And then, above the four earthly elements, I added two open silver circles.

For me, they represent something beyond the physical world—the things we cannot necessarily see or touch, but somehow know are there. A reminder that perhaps the world we experience is only part of a much larger story.

I didn't want the symbolism to end with the pendant, so I carried the colors and feeling of the elements into the handmade gemstone chain, combining hematite, apatite, carnelian, onyx, and aurora beads with silver.

Every part of this necklace was created as part of one story.

Where All Things Begin is not simply a necklace inspired by nature. It is a small, wearable landscape—a reminder of the forces that formed the world around us and the connection we still have to them.

Created entirely by hand in my West Virginia studio, this is a one-of-a-kind, artist-signed piece of wearable art by International Jewelry Designer Christine Keller.

Wellness & Symbolism

Earth — grounding, stability, strength and our connection to the physical world.
Air — breath, thought, freedom and new beginnings.
Fire — transformation, passion, courage and creative energy.
Water — intuition, emotion, renewal and the ability to move with change.

Hematite is traditionally associated with grounding and stability. Apatite is often connected with inspiration and personal expression. Carnelian has long been associated with vitality, creativity and courage, while Onyx is traditionally regarded as a stone of strength and protection.

Together, the stones and symbols make this piece a deeply personal expression of balance, connection and the natural world.
