Moroccan Seam Agate & Sterling Silver Necklace

Sometimes the earth creates a landscape so extraordinary that my job is simply to listen to what the stone is already saying.

Rift in the Earth began with a remarkable piece of Moroccan Seam Agate. Deep earthy reds and browns surround sweeping layers of white, while an opening through the center seems almost like a passage into the stone itself. The natural banding, color and movement immediately reminded me of a great fissure in the earth—something ancient exposed after millions of years hidden beneath the surface.

I wanted the silverwork surrounding it to feel just as organic.

I created the entire setting by hand in sterling silver, building layers of texture and small sculptural details around the agate rather than overpowering what nature had already created.

And I didn't stop with the pendant.

For this piece, I handcrafted the entire sterling silver chain, link by link. The intentionally organic links vary in shape and size, continuing the movement of the pendant all the way around the necklace. The chain isn't simply something the pendant hangs from—it is part of the design.

Turn Rift in the Earth over and there is another surprise.

I opened the sterling silver backplate to reveal another beautiful section of the Moroccan Seam Agate. Beside that window is a small handcrafted silver heart—a quiet detail created especially for the person who wears it. It may spend most of its life hidden against the body, but I believe even the parts of a piece that few people see deserve to be beautiful.

Rift in the Earth is completely one of a kind. Nature will never create this exact pattern again, and every part of the silverwork and chain was created specifically for this individual stone.
