Have you ever watched the sun reflecting across the surface of the water, its light dancing and shifting with every little ripple?
That's what I see when I look at The Water Sun.
This one-of-a-kind enamel pendant brings together beautiful shades of blue and green, capturing the feeling of sunlight meeting water.
What I particularly love about this piece is the depth within the enamel. There are layers of color and visual movement that are difficult to capture completely in a photograph. As the light changes, different details seem to come forward, much like the surface of water itself.
It's one of those pieces that turned out just as I hoped, and I was especially pleased with the finished result.
The circular pendant measures 2 inches in diameter and hangs from a 24-inch adjustable chain that I created entirely by hand.
Every aluminum link was individually formed and cut at my jewelry bench. I chose aluminum because it's lightweight and has a beautiful bright finish, allowing the pendant to have a substantial presence without adding unnecessary weight.
The chain is part of the artwork itself, complementing the colors and movement of the enamel rather than simply supporting it.
Created in my West Virginia studio, The Water Sun is an original Christine Keller design, bringing together my love of nature, color, and individually handcrafted jewelry.
