Sometimes a stone doesn't simply suggest a landscape—it seems to hold an entire little world inside it.

When I looked into the Bluewood Opal Jasper in Stars in the Ocean, I saw water.

A ribbon of brilliant turquoise moves through the center of the stone, bordered by deep shadow above and warm earth tones below. To me, it looked like a hidden shoreline viewed from a distance—a small ocean landscape that had somehow been captured and preserved within the stone.

I wanted the silverwork to continue that story.

Above the stone, I created a richly textured sterling silver setting filled with flowing, organic patterns reminiscent of water and movement. A large dimensional sterling silver starfish stretches across the surface, transforming the piece from a simple stone setting into a miniature ocean-inspired composition.

The natural markings of the Jasper remain the focal point. Rather than trying to control what was already there, I built around what I saw within it.

Stars in the Ocean was created as a one-of-a-kind piece of wearable art—part stone, part silver and part imagination.
