Some stones seem to hold more than color and pattern. They feel as though they are keeping something.

That was what I saw in the extraordinary Mexican Lace Agate that became Keeper of Secrets.

Across the surface of the stone, tiny worlds seem to unfold—concentric circles, lace-like formations, pools of deep red and burgundy, and intricate markings created by the Earth itself. The longer I looked at it, the more it felt ancient to me, almost as though I were looking at something carrying memories from another time.

Rather than simply placing the stone into a setting, I wanted the silverwork to continue its story.

I built the pendant entirely by hand in sterling silver, surrounding the agate with an open circular form and creating the sculptural element above it to suggest a goddess figure—strong, feminine and timeless. A smaller warm red stone rests at its center, becoming almost a heart or source of energy within the design.

The open spaces were as important to me as the silver itself. They allow the pendant to feel substantial without becoming visually heavy and draw the eye back again and again to the remarkable landscape within the agate.

Keeper of Secrets became a piece about mystery, feminine strength and the stories the Earth keeps long before any of us arrive to discover them.

This one-of-a-kind work has since found its collector and sold for $595. Like all of my collector pieces, the design was never duplicated.
