Sometimes a stone seems to invite you to look beyond its surface.

The Agate Druzy at the center of Inner Portal immediately reminded me of an opening—a small window into another place. Natural bands of white, gray and translucent crystal surround its center, creating a formation that seems almost suspended within the stone.

I wanted the silverwork to continue that sense of movement.

I built the setting by hand in sterling silver, surrounding the druzy with layers of circular texture that echo the formations within the agate. Hand-formed silver spheres and a small Amethyst accent add another dimension without taking attention away from the stone itself.

But this piece didn't end with the pendant.

I handcrafted the entire sterling silver chain specifically for Inner Portal, forming and connecting alternating sizes of organic silver links one by one. Their open circular shapes repeat the patterns found in both the druzy and the pendant, carrying the design all the way around the wearer rather than allowing the story to stop at the focal stone.

That relationship between stone and metal is an important part of my work. I rarely begin with a predetermined design. Instead, I look at what is already happening inside the stone and allow its shapes, landscapes and patterns to tell me where the silver should go.

Inner Portal became a one-of-a-kind composition built around that idea—a glimpse inward, framed in silver.

The piece has since found its collector and sold for $469. The design was never duplicated.
