There are pieces that begin with a stone, and others that seem to arrive already carrying a presence of their own.

Goddess was both.

The extraordinary Titanium Coquina immediately commanded attention with its electric blues, greens and flashes of violet. Rather than contain that color within a conventional setting, I built a figure around it, allowing the stone itself to become the flowing body of the Goddess.

Above her, I created a circular sterling silver form suggesting both a head and a radiant sun. Details plated in 14K gold surround her head like rays of light, bringing warmth against the cool silver and brilliant color below. A small Blue Chalcedony rests at the top of the circle, adding a quiet point of translucent blue.

A sweeping piece of hand-formed silver crosses the Coquina almost like an embrace, holding the irregular stone while allowing its natural shape to remain an essential part of the design.

But the pendant was only part of the composition.

I created the gemstone chain specifically for Goddess, incorporating Tiger's Eye, Malachite and Apatite in colors that echo those found throughout the focal stone. Sterling silver elements interrupt the beads along the chain, giving the necklace rhythm and allowing the eye to travel naturally toward the figure below.

Bold, feminine and unmistakably individual, Goddess was created as wearable art—a celebration of color, strength and the beauty of being entirely oneself.
