Energy in Motion — Enamel on Copper Brooch

 Energy in Motion captures that moment when everything is alive with movement. The swirling enamel feels like heat, light, and color caught mid-burst, while the surrounding copper forms hold it in place like fragments orbiting a powerful center. It’s bold, expressive, and impossible to ignore.

The enamel is layered and fused by fire, revealing patterns I can guide but never fully control. Each kiln firing creates reactions that can never be repeated, and that collaboration with the flame is what gives the piece its character. This brooch exists only once.

Every step was built by hand at my bench. I cut the metal, shape the forms, smooth every edge, and build the enamel slowly through multiple firings to create depth and intensity. Some enamel pieces pass through the kiln five times, others twenty. The process is patient and intentional, resulting in wearable art that carries its own energy.

The back is finished in textured copper, a metal long associated with warmth and grounding. Many people are drawn to copper for the way it feels alive against the skin — a natural material that connects us back to the Earth.
