Vibrant and Alive — Enamel on Copper Brooch

 Vibrant and Alive is pure movement and color. Swirling layers of enamel create a sense of motion, like energy caught mid-dance. It’s the kind of piece you can look into again and again and always discover something new — bright, expressive, and impossible to ignore.

The enamel is shaped by fire and chance. Each firing reveals patterns I can guide but never fully control, and that unpredictability is what gives the piece its life. No two enamel firings are ever the same — this brooch exists only once.

Every step of the metalwork was done by hand at my bench. I cut the shape, smooth every edge, and build the enamel slowly through multiple kiln firings to create depth and richness. Some pieces pass through the kiln five times, others twenty. The process is patient and intentional, and the result is wearable art that is completely unique.

The back is finished in textured copper, a metal long associated with warmth and grounding. Many people are drawn to copper for the way it feels alive against the skin — a natural material that connects us back to the Earth.
