Ancient Armor — Snakeskin Jasper Earrings

Some stones feel as though they belong to another time.
These remarkable Snakeskin Jasper stones immediately made me think of something ancient—layers, scales and markings shaped by the Earth into patterns that could never quite be duplicated.
Snakeskin Jasper is a less commonly encountered jasper known for the intricate markings that inspired its name. Material sold under this trade name can vary, but classic Australian Snakeskin Jasper is associated with ancient banded iron formations in Western Australia, where folded layers of silica-rich stone and iron-bearing material create its distinctive patterns.
I wanted the silver surrounding these stones to carry that same primitive, organic feeling.
Each stone is set in sterling silver against a heavily textured surface whose irregular markings quietly echo the patterns within the jasper. Above each stone, an open silver circle creates space and movement while giving the earrings an almost talisman-like quality.
Nothing about them is perfectly symmetrical—and that is exactly what I love about them. Each stone carries its own markings, making the pair related rather than identical, just as nature intended.
Finished with my handcrafted sterling silver earwires, Ancient Armor is a one-of-a-kind pair for someone drawn to jewelry that feels earthy, unusual and just a little mysterious.

Wellness, Healing & Symbolism
Snakeskin Jasper
Jasper has long been associated in crystal traditions with grounding, stability and connection to the Earth. Snakeskin Jasper is often given additional symbolism of protection, resilience and remaining centered through periods of change.
Its scale-like appearance makes those associations especially fitting for Ancient Armor—a reminder that strength doesn't always have to be hard. Sometimes strength is simply knowing when to protect yourself, when to adapt, and when to keep moving forward.
These are traditional and metaphysical associations rather than scientifically established medical effects.
Silver
Silver has been treasured for centuries not only for its beauty but also for its reflective and enduring nature. In traditional wellness practices, silver is often associated with intuition, emotional balance, protection and the energy of the moon. Its cool luminosity creates a beautiful counterpoint to the earthy character of Snakeskin Jasper.
