There is a fleeting moment in the mountains when snow no longer looks white.

Just before sunrise—or as the last light of day slips behind the peaks—the mountains begin to glow. Soft shades of lavender, rose, silver, and blue dance across the snow, transforming an ordinary landscape into something almost magical. Mountaineers call this breathtaking phenomenon Alpenglow.

The moment I held this remarkable titanium-treated coquina, I knew that was exactly what I was seeing.

Its shimmering surface reflects light much like fresh snow catching the first rays of dawn. Hints of lavender, silver, icy blue, and soft rose seem to move across the stone as it turns, creating a sense of depth that photographs simply cannot capture.

I wanted every part of this necklace to continue that mountain story.

The handcrafted sterling silver pendant was designed to frame the mountain landscape without overwhelming it. The textured silver suggests rugged peaks rising toward the sky, while the open center creates a sense of space and light that allows the focal stone to command your attention.

Even the handcrafted bezel carries the story a step further. Rather than a traditional smooth bezel, I carefully a  silhouette of a mountain range with high forest trees, allowing the mountains to encircle the stone itself. Nestled above the pendant is a genuine Copper/Oyster Turquoise accent stone, adding warm earth tones that recall sunlit cliffs and rocky outcroppings kissed by the first light of morning.

The handcrafted gemstone necklace continues the journey through the mountains. Rich apatite reflects crystal-clear alpine lakes, lapis lazuli echoes deep mountain skies, hematite brings the strength and grounding of ancient stone, onyx adds depth and contrast, while shimmering Aurora beads capture the sparkle of sunlight dancing across fresh snow and ice. Every gemstone was chosen to become part of the landscape rather than simply decorate it.
