'Pueblo Skyline' is a hand painted enamel pendant showcasing a colorful skyline of buildings. This focal measures 2" w X 1 1/4" L. It is on an handcrafted copper chain with the unique stone of Unakite. As I was making this I was thinking of two separate trips I have been on. One was to Austria where all the houses lining the Danube River were so colorful and bright, the other trip was to the southwest, where color stands out against the desert landscape. Unakite was first discovered in the United States, in the Unakas mountains of western North Carolina/eastern Tennessee (hence its name). However, it can also be found on the beaches of Lake Superior, where it was originally dragged by glaciers, as well as washed down from the mountains into rivers in Virginia.
Unakite is said to be a stone of vision, opening the third eye. It is also believed to be a stone of balance, grounding the self while bringing emotions and spirituality together.
Among crystal healing practitioners, unakite is used to support convalescence from illness. It is also believed to affect the reproductive system, healthy pregnancy and the growth of skin and hair.
I prepared all the metal used in my creations from cutting out the shapes to sanding the edges, they are really hand crafted, every step of the way. Each enamel piece must go through the kiln anywhere from 5 to 20 times to get the color built up on to the metal. I love working with enamels because of the many different patterns that show up, many that I have no control over. This is what makes them a one of a kind piece. Copper and Brass- The Magic Metals
If tradition is to believed, these metals have healing properties. Copper is allegedly a strong conductor of energy, and an aid for exhaustion. This makes sense as it is used for electrical wiring.
